China to shut down blogs...

So, I just found out that China seems to be doing some mass censoring of Blogs and pretty much anything web 2.0 based. Check this article out http://www.cwrblog.net/810/china-idc-to-shut-down-bbss-and-blogs.html

It has some interesting info...and now I may have to figure out how to re-host my blog somewhere else!

Hi Emily. I saw your question on my blog and took a quick look at yours...welcome to Shanghai, I'm also an ex-SF person.

Anyway about the censorship, yeah it's really annoying. There's two easy-ish ways around it. They require using firefox, although I'm sure there's an equivalent for other browsers if you look around. The first is seemless and works for blogspot and a few other blogs:

The second is anonymouse, actually you can just pre-face the blog with http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/ - for instance, http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.wikipedia.org/ .

With me, I have it set up to load automatically as a right-click on the link, the extension is at http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Log-Analyzers/Firefox-Extensions/Anonymouser-29343.shtml

Hope that helps!
